The Education Department of Haryana will categorize students into five different categories which are:
- The first 100 toppers of the 10th state board examinations, irrespective of caste, gender, or income limitations.
- The top 100 girls from the general category who achieved outstanding results in the exams.
- The top 100 boys from the scheduled caste (SC) category who demonstrated exceptional performance.
- The top 100 girls belonging to the scheduled caste (SC) category who achieved notable scores.
- The top 100 students from the Below Poverty Line (BPL) category will be selected for the scheme.
Government schools in Haryana have received a letter from the state government, notifying them about the Free Laptop Scheme. The scheme aims to award laptops to students who have completed their board exams this year, providing them with valuable tools for their future higher education preparations.

Similar to laptop distribution schemes in other states such as Karnataka, the Haryana state government is expected to invite online application forms for the Muft Laptop Yojana. Interested and eligible meritorious students will be required to apply online.

Implementation of Haryana Muft Laptop Yojana

Usually, the state government will distribute free laptops to economically weaker sections of both boys and girls from all communities, provided their annual family income falls below Rs. 2.5 lakh. The department will verify the records of these students, including their family income and other admission details. The list of beneficiaries will be prepared after the verification process is completed by the end of this month.
The Haryana government has issued a circular to all government schools regarding the Free Laptop Distribution Scheme. Previously, in July, the Haryana government had issued a notification to all districts about a similar scheme.
Previous Free Laptop for Students in Haryana was not implemented as a few districts failed to prepare the necessary beneficiary lists. The Muft Laptop Yojana aims to motivate students to achieve good marks in their board examinations.
